Cheese, sausage, and crackers are something that is just one of my ultimate favorite snacks and a portable charcuterie board can be easily incorporated into your elopement for a picnic. When I go to a party, I looove when people have cheese and crackers. I grew up in Wisconsin so ours were relatively simple – your typical cheddar cheese slices or cheese spreads, summer sausage, and ritz crackers. Exactly like the Lunchables you used to eat! But always a staple, because, you know…Cheeseheads 🙂
The beauty of these boards is that they can be whatever you want them to be. Fancy or simple, purchased or DIY, it’s your choice! AND, what I’m showing you is an easy way to make a portable charcuterie board. You can pop all of this in your backpack for your hike, set it up at your destination, and have a fancy snack (adult Lunchables for my 90s babies) while looking at some awesome views! I’m a big fan of DIY because I love creating things with my hands. But if you want to order from someone else, you can find a few links below!
***you’ll have leftovers, so you can either use it all for your entire group or save some for when you get home!
Because you’ll be putting this in your hiking backpack and taking up the mountain, I find it’s easiest to pre-cut everything and separate it all out at home so when you get to your elopement picnic spot, you can easily pull out everything and then quickly assemble. This leaves ample time for the most important part – EATING!
Have a picnic at the top of the trail or after your ceremony! Take a second to assemble the board, don’t forget a beverage, and then enjoy!!
If you want to support a local business in WA, check out these people who create and sell charcuterie boards!
You can also get tons of cheese and meats at any grocery store, or make a stop at Pikes Place Market and go to Beechers Cheese. You should also check out The Cheesemongers Shop in Leavenworth if you’re on that side of the Cascades. My favorite all-time salami is from Coro Foods, a local Seattle specialty!

Is there anything better than cheese? I love this idea for a trail-ready cheese and charcuterie board. My favorite is to bring a spicy fruit jam like habanero raspberry. So good with softer and more mild cheeses! Great article.
Okay this is the BEST idea ever!! I am totally going to follow this advice because charcuterie boards are my absolute favorite! Such a great resource for couples planning their elopements!
I honestly not only love the breakdown of items, but love how you gave some local businesses as well to support! Great ideas
Love this! Having a picnic during your elopement day is so fun, especially when it involves a bunch of little snacks!
Love this DIY charcuterie board idea! It’s always nice to have a picnic while you’re out in nature, especially during your elopement adventure!
oh. my. GOSH. What an incredible blog post. I LOVE cheese and I love the idea of sharing how to pack up a charcuterie board for your elopement! SO FUN! I’m definitely using this post as inspiration for my own couples!
This is awesome, elopement or not! Simple yet detailed no matter how fancy you want to make your arrangement.
Nothing is better than charcuterie. Pair it with some wine and you’re really having a party. I’m definitely pro having a sweet to break up the salty and savory. I really love those Marcona almonds and a little honeycomb. Yummmmm.
This is such a great idea! I love charcuterie boards (who doesn’t?), and the beauty of them is edible, so while they’re beautiful to look at, they’re even more fun to create and chomp away on. Plus, what better way to celebrate than with food, drink, and cake at the end of a hiking elopement?
