The experience working with my couple for their Hoh Rainforest Wedding

I started planning B & J’s elopement with them 8 months before their date. On our first consultation call, they told me what they wanted out of their day: they didn’t want to put on a show or perform, they still wanted time with family, but they also wanted to visit a national park that they had never been to before!

During our conversations, we decided a morning experience with private vows at the Hoh Rainforest was exactly what they wanted. Our goal – start early and see the amazing morning golden light. (I have a very particular schedule, I like shooting here.) The light did NOT disappoint!

While their full day involved a few other locations in the park with family, this part of the day was just their own. We started out getting ready at the trail before giving them a moment for their first look and then found the most beautiful spot for them to say their private vows. The light was absolutely glowing behind them as the sun came through the trees.

We then adventured through the rainforest! We touched moss, looked out for any wildlife (no elk this time, but I have seen elk here in the past), and just gazed up at the tall tree canopy around us.

This alone time didn’t stop there! Since we were on the coast, they wanted to visit the Tree of Life, so we headed to the beach for some carefree portraits as they ran around and played together. The beach for me always provides the most room for really fun portraits because we can run wherever we want. Her dress trailed in the ocean, and we actually had to spend a little time slapping the sand out of the dress before we headed out for the second part of the day to see their family!
